Leather seams
In order to provide leather with motifs, leather can also be embroidered. But seams are already an ornament. Seams can split the same leather into smaller pieces. This may be technically necessary to delineate seats on furniture or sleeves in leather clothing. But often seams are only used as ornaments.

Stitched diamond patterns are a specialty in vehicle leathers. This design is called "diamond stitching".
