The skin of different bird species is also processed to leather and the best known is ostrich leather. But there are other bird species and parts like duck feet, turkey legs or chicken legs that are processed to leather. The structure of the bird's legs and feet resembles reptile leather.
Bird leather types:
- Ostrich leather, ostrich legs
- Leather from the skin of birds with feathers
- Chicken leg leather
- Leather from the legs of ducks
- Leather from the legs of turkeys
Plumage
Leather obtained from skin of birds with feathers is called Plumage. The eskimos made jackets of bird plumage in regions where alternative leather was less common.
