In der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung vom 27.08.2015 gab es einen Artikel zum Thema Rhabarberleder. Es las sich teilweise wie ein Kulturkampf der verschiedenen Fraktionen. Da wurde zitiert, dass [[Chromgerbung|Chromlederprodukte]] eigentlich Sondermüll seien. Vom Verband der Lederindustrie wurde zitiert, dass Rhabarberleder keine überzeugende Alternative sei oder ein "Gag" sei, weil es unwirtschaftlich wäre. Beide Aussagen sind aber eher auf verhärtete Fronten zurück zu führen. [[Chromgerbung|Mit Chrom gegerbtes Leder]] ist per se nicht giftig und Rhabarberleder hat durchaus eine Berechtigung, die aber nicht die Größenordnung der Hauptgerbarten hat. Wie sich der Markt entwickelt, wird sich zeigen.

Both statements must be interpreted as hardened fronts. [[Chrome tanned|Chrome-tanned leather]] is not per se poisonous and rhubarb leather has quite an authorization, but it doesn't have the perspective to be the main tanning method one day.
