Vachetta leather or Vachette leather (from the French of vache = cattle) is little greased, vegetable-tanned leather from thin hides of cattle. The leather is soft and has a thickness of 1 - 2 millimeters. It is also rarely chromium-tanned.
Vachette leather is natural coloured and mainly used for bags, suitcases and saddles. However, it is also offered pigmented and / or embossed.

Vache ist ein lohgegerbtes (lohgares) Rindsleder, das ungespalten vorwiegend als Sohlenleder verwendet wird.
Fahlleder
Unter Fahlleder versteht man lohgares ("lohgegerbtes"), gefettetes Leder, das entweder naturfahlgelb oder gefärbt in den Handel kommt. Auf den Markt gelangen diese Leder zumeist in naturfahlgelben ("lohfarbenen") Tönen. Fahlleder wird hauptsächlich für Arbeitsschuhe und anderen, stark strapazierten Schuhprodukten verwendet. Es kann sowohl die Narbenseite als auch die Fleischseite nach außen getragen werden, was besonders bei Berg- und Wanderschuhen zu sehen ist. Fahlleder wird auch zu Taschen und Lederwaren verarbeitet.
